ARREPIÉNTETE Y CREE EN EL EVANGELIO es el titulo del comentario de ayer en mi misal ‘Pan de la Palabra’. Dice:
Hoy es el primer día del tiempo de Cuaresma: tiempo fuerte y de revisión profunda para nuestra vida personal y comunitaria, para avanzar en el camino de nuestra conversión. Pero eso el profeta Joel nos invita a no quedarnos solamente en signos externos de penitencia (como la ceniza que recibimos hoy), sino que el deseo de convertirnos surja desde lo mas intimo de nuestro ser: “Vuelvan a mi de todo corazón, con ayuno, llantos y duelo.”
Esto es una revolución verdadera. Y para mi es ser un cristiano católico.
Este comentario es inspirado por los profetas Joel y Jesus y es muy firme en la creencia que como Dios dijo a Cain en el libro de Genisis, eres el que debe cuidar a tu hermano. Y que también nuestra salvación es una onda personal y también comunitaria. No somos como los evangélicos que tiene la creencia que la salvación es solamente personal, entre Jesus y yo y nadie mas.
En el pasado he tratado de no usar palabrotas o de tomar cervezas para la Cuaresma.
Esta Cuaresma me voy a portar mucho mas valiente y rezare en todo momento al Espíritu Santo para yo tener una conversión y también nuestra comunidad que esta muy mal en las áreas de espiritualidad y justicia.
Ven Jesus porque quiero estar mas cerca de ti.
LENT 2017- ASH WEDNESDAY

REPENT AND BELIEVE IN THE GOSPEL is the title of yesterdays commentary on the scriptures for the mass in my missal ‘Pan de Palabra’. Translated from Spanish it said,
Today is the first day of Lent, a very important time and a time for profound change personally and communally, to advance the path of our conversion. For this reason the prophet Joel invites us to not only do external signs of penance (like the ashes received) but also that we have a conversion that rises up from the most intimate places within us. Joel says “Come back to me with all your heart, fasting, weeping and mourning.”
This is truly revolutionary.
And to me it is why Catholic Christianity, flawed as it is, turns me on and rings true.
This commentary looks to the prophets Joel and Jesus, and puts it in the readers face that we indeed are our brothers and sisters keepers, and that our salvation is totally connected to and wrapped up in the salvation of all of our brothers and sisters. Catholics believe that one is saved personally but also as part of a community.
In the past I have tried to give up foul language and drinking cervezas for Lent.
This Lent I am committing myself to act much more bold and to pray without ceasing so as to be infused with the Holy Spirit. I’m convinced that this is the ticket to begin to convert myself and the larger community that is in major material and spiritual disarray.
It’s much bigger than just me and Jesus.
