The newest album by Rich Hopkins and the Luminarios (also known as the Casa Maria
house band) is really good and has recently received 3 rave reviews, in the Daily Star, the Weekly, and in Zocalo.
My personal fave is the collaboration between Rich, his wife Lisa Novack and Casa Maria’s own Cesar Aguirre on the rap song “Meant for Mo'”.
It’s not about stupid stuff, he raps about the journey to find himself and his relationship with the Creator in the midst of this oppressive society, with the full electric Luminarios rock band backing him. And Cesar has done it live with the band four times now. Check out one of those performances HERE.
It’s pretty impressive that an old school classic rock star like Rich can step so far out of his box to collaborate with a young Chicano from the South Side of Tucson.

El nuevo álbum de Rich Hopkins y los Luminarios (también conocidos como la banda de de Casa Maria) es realmente bueno y a recibido 3 críticas muy buenas, en el Daily Star, el Weekly, y el Zocalo.
Personalmente mi favorito es la colaboración entre Rich, su esposa Lisa Novack y Cesar Aguirre de Casa Maria en la canción de rap que se llama “Meant for Mo”.
No se trata de pendejadas, el rapea sobre el camino para encontrarse así mismo y su relación con el Creador en medio de esta sociedad opresiva, con la completa banda de rock eléctrica Los Luminarios respaldándolo. Y Cesar a rapeado en vivo con la banda 4 veces ya. Puedes ver una de esas actuaciones AQUÍ.
Es impresionante que un estrella de rock clásico como Rich puede salir tan lejos de su mundo musical para colaborar con un joven Chicano del Sur de Tucson.
