First off, I want to begin by apologizing to anyone I might offend with this because a few people I know and respect are in support of prop 123. When I ask why they support it the most common responses are, I’m supporting our childrens’ education, or I know it’s not great but our schools need the money and it’s the only way they’ll get it.
I’m sorry but a yes vote on prop 123 does the exact opposite of supporting education and putting much needed funding back in our schools. If you support 123 think about where
this prop came from and who you are supporting. You’re supporting the same government that has criminally underfunded education and prioritized prisons over education.
When I say criminally underfunded I mean it literally. Arizona legislatures’ broke the law by not increasing education funding according to inflation, a law that we the people voted for and passed.

Now that the court has ordered the state to pay the money they owe the schools they come up with a way to get off the hook and further screw our kids and their future while fooling people into believing that this is the only way to immediately restore the funding that is owed.
If 123 passes chances are it will go to the courts to determine its legality, meaning the money will not be available until after the courts make a decision. The myth that money will be available to schools immediately is a very enticing part of the deal, but let’s talk about what they’re not telling you.
If 123 passes the amount of money funneled out of the state land trust will not be sustainable. The century old land trust has provided education funding for a hundred years and can be drained in ten years if they raise the percentage of funding that goes to education from 2.5% to 10% over five years. By the time my nephew is a freshman in high school this fund will be gone (unless the state starts selling off our land to the highest bidder, but how long will that last).
In 10 years, the politicians who crafted and backed this proposition will not be around to face the consequences when the trust “blows up,” he said. “But I’m going to be here,” he said. “My kids are going to be here. We’re all going to pay taxes in 10 years.” -Arizona State Treasurer Jeff DeWit
Prop 123 also puts a cap at how much our state can actually fund education. We are currently at the bottom of the list for per student funding. If that isn’t bad enough, the cap set by 123 will ensure we remain there.
Again, I hope I don’t offend anyone when I say this but if you care about our kids and their future, please, don’t be stupid enough to fall for the lies of criminals like Doug Ducey and his henchmen in Phoenix.
It’s time we stop letting these criminals off the hook and hold them accountable for their crimes. Let’s make them understand what is important to the people of Arizona. Tell them to give our kids what is owed to them now!
Stop investing in prisons, stop cutting corporate taxes and tax the rich! Represent the people, not corporate interest! And start by properly funding education now!

¡VOTE NO EN LA PROPUESTA 123!
Antes que nada, quiero empezar por disculparme si ofendo a alguien, porque algunas personas que yo conozco y respeto están a favor de la propuesta 123. Cuando les pregunte porque la apoyan la respuesta más común fue, estoy apoyando la educación de nuestros niños, o sé que no es lo mejor pero nuestras escuelas necesitan el dinero y es la única manera que ellos van a obtenerlo.
Lo siento pero votando por la propuesta 123 hace lo contrario a apoyar la educación y poner los fondos necesarios en nuestras escuelas. Ustedes están apoyando al gobierno que criminalmente deja sin fondos a la educación y su prioridad son las prisiones.
Cuando digo criminalmente sin fondos lo digo literalmente. La legislatura de Arizona violó la ley por no incrementarlos fondos para la educación debido a la inflación, una ley que nosotros el pueblo voto a favor y paso.
Ahora que la corte ha ordenado al estado pagar el dinero que deben a las escuelas ellos han encontrado la manera de no hacerlo y más adelante arruinar el futuro de nuestros hijos mientras engañan a la gente haciéndoles creer que es la única manera de restaurar inmediatamente los fondos que se deben.
Si la 123 pasa hay más probabilidad que la corte la apruebe, esto significa que el dinero no estará disponible hasta que la corte haga su decisión. El mito de que el dinero estará disponible para las escuelas inmediatamente es la parte tentadora del acuerdo, pero hablemos de lo que ellos no han dicho.
Si la 123 pasa la cantidad de dinero que se tomara del fideicomiso de las tierras estatales no será sostenible. El fideicomiso ha proporcionado fondos para la educación por años y puede agotarse en 10 años si ellos aumentan el porcentaje de los fondos que van para la educación de 2.5% a 10% por más de 5 años. Para cuando mi sobrino este en su primer año de preparatoria estos fondos se habrán acabado (a menos que el estado empiece a vender las tierras a un licitador más alto que el, pero cuanto durara esto).
La proposición 123 también pone un límite en cuanto más el estado puede seguir financiando la educación. Estamos en lo último de la lista de los fondos para estudiantes. Si este no es malo lo suficiente, la propuesta 123 asegurara que permanezcamos ahí.
De nuevo, espero no ofender a nadie cuando digo esto pero si a usted le importan nuestros hijos y su futuro, por favor, no sea tonto no caiga en la mentira de los criminales como Doug Ducey y sus secuaces en Phoenix.
La propuesta 123 es un arreglo a corto plazo con efectos devastadores a largo plazo.
Es tiempo de dejar que estos criminales se queden sin castigo y paguen por sus crímenes. Vamos a hacerlos entender lo que es importante para la gente de Arizona. ¡Decirles que les den a nuestros hijos lo que se les debe ahora!
¡Paren de invertir en las prisiones, paren de cortar los impuestos de las corporaciones y los ricos! ¡Representen a la gente, no a los intereses de las corporaciones! ¡Y empiecen a dar los fondos correctamente para la educación!
